I'm not sure if I'm a typical Canadian mom, but I do know that when I was home on my first maternity leave, back in 2000 I was, may not THE queen, but I was a queen of on-line shopping. My husband came home from work regularly expecting to find empty cartons/boxes from Motherwear or Amazon in the hallway.
I was a first time mom, first of my circle of friends to have a baby and while J. slept I needed something to do! This was before the start of Wee Welcome or Movies for Mommies, and even Early Years Centres, so on-line shopping and on-line discussions were my way of getting in touch with a world that related to me.
In 2007 there are SOOOOO many more ways and outlets for on-line shopping in Canada and we're featuring many of this in our monthly shopping guide. We'll also be adding links to baby and parenting books that have been written by Canadian authors, along our side columns (scroll down).
We can't get or read enough parenting books! Please let us know if there are other Canadian-written parenting books that you recommend. We hope to get reviews of these all up on the site as soon as we can...maybe some summer reading!
