MONTREAL (CP) - Quebec plans to open 20 birthing centres across the province to promote the use of midwives. Health Minister Philippe Couillard - who's a doctor - says there's much less medical resistance to midwives helping birth babies. However, he noted that polls have indicated the majority of women still prefer to give birth in a hospital.
